St Patricks Day

Tomorrow is St Patricks Day and I might pop down to the local pub in the evening as they have live music on, I shall see, it tends to get a bit rowdy sometimes and the younger generation go over the top with the drink, well actually its not just the younger generation everyone seems to get blootered.
I did not realise but Labrador Montserrat and Newfoundland also have public holidays tomorrow to celebrate Irelands
Lá Fhéile Pádraig. Last year Sheena and Sacha were across from Scotland and we went to a couple of parades and when we were in Oughterard I actually had a float. Saint Patrick's Day was made an official Christian feast day in the early seventeenth century.
Little is known of Patrick's early life, except that he was born in Roman Britain in the fourth century, into a wealthy Romano-British family. His father was a deacon and his grandfather was a priest in the Christian church. At the age of sixteen, he was kidnapped by Irish raiders and taken captive to Ireland as a slave. Apparently, he was held somewhere on the west coast of Ireland, possibly Mayo, but the exact location is unknown. According to his Confession, he was told by God in a dream to flee from captivity to the coast, where he would board a ship and return to Britain. Upon returning, he quickly joined the Church in Auxerre in Gaul and studied to be a priest.
In 432, he said that he was called back again to Ireland, though as a bishop, to Christianise the Irish from their native polytheism. According to Irish folklore, one of his teaching methods included using the shamrock to explain the Christian doctrine of the Trinity to the Irish people. After nearly thirty years of evangelism, he died on 17 March 461, and according to tradition, was buried at Downpatrick.
I think I will have another big bonfire to celebrate tomorrow. I didn't manage to have the day off today, Ron came back over for breakfast and it was windy so we decided not to go out in his boat so I had a wee walk with Gus for my ankle and then cut the stump off another fallen tree down near the pond. Best laid plans at having the whole day off did not transpire and I did two fills of petrol in the chainsaw, ohh well it needs done and no one else is going to do it.

I still have no phone or broadband lol.
